The Big Gig at St Mary’s on December 3

The programme for The Big Gig at St Mary's in Upton on December 3 2016: What you will be hearing

Earlier this year I wrote this post about The Big Gig, a twice-yearly event at St Mary’s Church in Upton where young and talented musicians play songs by the likes of Nirvana, the Black Keys, Bastille and many others.

It’s always a great night and, as I wrote back in May, it ends in time for a couple of pints afterwards if that’s your thing.

Tomorrow night (December 3) is the second Big Gig of the year and it promises to be another night to remember.

The night comes after 11 weeks of practice by the youngsters who are taught by some terrific older musicians under the Upton Village Youth Project’s redoubtable School of Rock banner.

If you fancy a listen to some of the songs the bands will be playing on the night to whet your appetite, there’s a Spotify playlist below.

The whole thing starts at 6.30 and it’s likely to be busy so I’d get down there early if I were you to make sure you get a good seat.
