School newsletters and graphic design

School newsletters, I know from experience as a parent, are often mainly functional affairs. When the Christmas fête is taking place, who won the Year Five cooking competition, requests for parents not to drive into the staff car park when dropping their children off.

I am also aware that schools are a hive of activity, with huge amounts of events going on every term, many of which parents are unaware of. As a journalist I am able to produce a magazine-like school newsletter, with short, snappy and easy-to-read features alongside bright and well presented photographs which will be a huge hit with parents.

My experience as a journalist also means that the whole thing can be an almost entirely painless exercise for the school. I come into school for a few hours, talk to teachers and pupils about what has been happening during the term and then write and design the newsletter.

I am also able to take care of any other school graphic design needs, whether that’s a glossy prospectus for new parents or calendars for the PTA.
